Living Off The Grid For A Better Future

Some people use these wind mills for generating electricity to run their homes electrical needs.

The following video is a very good one for anyone to watch who would like to understand exactly how a wind turbine or wind mill actually works. Of course if you are on your own and not in a community like the wind farms shown on the video, your wind turbine or wind mill will be much smaller, but they all work with the same principle.

The benefits of living off the grid:
Best of all no monthly electric bill! Living off the grid makes you self sufficient when everyone else are having power outages your power keeps working. And lets face it energy rates are steadily getting higher, so by getting of the grid you can save hundreds to thousands of dollars per year!

There are different ways which you can generate power they are: through solar panels, wind turbines, and/or hydro generators.

In these economical hard times these systems can really help you save money in the long run, and are very beneficial because they make you self reliant.

The initial purchase price is the hardest part, but after that then virtually the electricity whether it be wind, solar or water is free electricity No Monthly Bill.

With either one of these systems or all of them you will have to have battery banks.

Then other than maintaining your wind turbine maintenance, solar panels, or hydro generator the only other cost should be replacing your batteries approximately every 5 to 7 years and maybe even longer with the proper management of your battery cells.

However, with good quality solar panels whether you purchase them or build them there is no maintenance for approximately 30 years and maybe then some.

Living off the grid isn't as hard as you may think

There are numerous things you can do to start helping yourself save money on your own electric bill and then maybe eventually you can cut the umbilical cord that has you tied to your energy company.

You could start out with something as small as buying yourself and your family members a solar powered cell phone charger each.

In the photo is my personal cell phone charger my husband bought me off of the internet for around $20.00 dollars for 2 chargers. Each one came with instructions and cords, plugs for different phone jacks and even an USB. This company sold different colored ones blue, pink, black and gray.

You can start teaching your children about saving money with this kind of item, thus saving you money right now on your electric bill.

If you want to take that manly leap you could go ahead and buy a complete solar panel system that can run your whole house. Not the handy man type? Some solar companies will come to your home and figure out exactly what you need and give you a free quote. Then come back and install your new solar panel system for you, leaving you hands free!

With the prices in our poor economy steadily going up everyone should be doing this if not for trying to help save our planet from burning fossil fuels, then nothing more than personal gain of living off the grid, its basically free energy that helps our environment for our future generations.
